-Carefully sand the door to remove any existing peeling paint

-Ensure the door is completely clean from grime and dirt by thoroughly washing down the door using a power washer on a low setting if possible. If you cannot access a power washer, you can use a sponge or cloth with a bucket of hot, soapy water instead.

-Make sure the paint you have purchased is specially designed for outdoor use and that it is intended for the material of your garage door

-Stick masking tape around any areas of the garage that you don’t want to be painted
